Warning Description: Lake Wind Advisory
Warning Date: 4:31 am EST on November 21, 2008
WarningSum:...Lake Wind Advisory Now In Effect From 10 Am This Morning To
1 Am Est Saturday...
Warning Message:The lake Wind Advisory is now in effect from 10 am this morning
to 1 am EST Saturday.
A tightening pressure gradient and colder air moving into the
region today will produce increasing north and northwest winds
across the area. Winds will increase to 15 to 25 knots with gusts
to near 30 knots on area lakes today. The winds will gradually
diminish after midnight to 10 to 20 knots.
A lake Wind Advisory indicates that winds will cause rough chop
on area lakes. Small boats and personal watercraft will be
especially prone to capsizing.
Warning Description: Fire Weather Warning
Warning Date: 5:18 am EST on November 21, 2008
WarningSum:...Red Flag Warning In Effect From Noon Today To 6 Pm Est This
Afternoon...
Warning Message:The National Weather Service in Columbia has issued a red flag
warning...which is in effect from noon today to 6 PM EST this
afternoon. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.
Breezy and dry conditions are expected to develop across the area
today behind a cold front. The drier air behind the front will
lead to low relative humidity values this afternoon. Also...
vegetation has dried some over the past several days.
A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now...or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures will
create explosive fire growth potential.
